How meditating for five days has changed my life (& how it can change yours, too!)

What if you could change everything, just by meditating for ten minutes a day?

What if you could feel more grounded? If your posture could improve? If you didn't feel overwhelmed by your to-do list? If you could take a few minutes and just breathe without freaking out?

What if you woke up excited about the day, instead of dreading it?

What if you were less prone to anger or frustration? If your first choice would be to find a solution to the problem instead of getting angry that there's a problem in the first place?

What if you could remove your ego from the situation?

What if you could focus for longer periods of time? If you could get more done in each day?

I bet all or some of that sounds enticing. I know it does to me! And let me just say:

I have experienced all of those things.

Not necessarily in that order, and not without falling back into old habits of being, but I can feel my internal landscape shifting. Just from meditating for about ten minutes every day.

There is something so magical about when you walk away from a meditation session, when you feel calm and centered and hella powerful. Because connecting with yourself? It's a wicked confidence booster.

I've been meditating every day since Monday (seriously, regularly for only FIVE DAYS) and I've already benefited so much from this amazing practice. So much so that I am making it one of my daily non-negotiables. (It's that powerful).

I understand if you're a little hesitant about all of this life-changing meditation stuff. It can seem a little woo-woo. And maybe it is, but does that mean that you shouldn't at least give it a try? After all, to meditate is just to "think deeply or focus one's mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting," according to the Oxford English Dictionary.

My challenge to you for this coming week: Take 10 minutes out of your day and meditate. Just give it seven days and see how you feel at the end of the week.

Because if five days can change my life this much, imagine what seven days could do for you!

TB_Promo_9 This month I am SO EXCITED to be hosting an entire month of giveaways!!!! Every week you will have a chance to win a love-soaked, beautiful item that will help you fill 2015 with magic + help you create your own myth.

For this week's giveaway, we're getting high! One lucky winner will get an audiobook version of Tara Bliss's AMAZING amazing (like, I devoured it cover-to-cover in less than 48 hours over the Thanksgiving break amazing) book High: A Party Girl's Guide to Peace.

It's part memoir, part workbook, and a whole lot of revelations, vulnerability, truth, and love.

Here's the official description, from Tara's site:

Who am I without this drink in my hand? Who am I beneath this amped-up scene which makes me feel sexy, confident, better? Take away all these late nights, and all this loud music, and… what’s left?

In her debut book, High: A Party Girls’ Guide to Peace, life coach and yoga teacher Tara Bliss reveals the memories of her pained cycle of bingeing and detoxing, and the practices that lifted her up and out; into a life of passion, purpose and peace. High comes to you as your roadmap on how to do the same.

Let this book show you to kick-start an avalanche of self-love, relinquish your FOMO (fear of missing out), transform your relationships, exude sass, confidence and vitality (while sober), and live courageously from the heart.

Your Party Girl identity is holding you back and limiting your brilliance. It’s time to let her go and start living a life of choice, rather than habit. It’s time to release your peace, get high on life and drunk on love.

Around Austin : Texas Conference for Women

DSCN2321 As I mentioned in last week's elements post, I attended the Texas Conference for Women last Thursday with my mom. And it was kind of amazing. We spent the entire day there, listened to inspiring + amazing speakers, ate questionable boxed lunches, had soul-deep talks and just enjoyed the time spent with each other and with so many other women.

The one person I was most excited to see was Danielle LaPorte -- the rest of the day, for me, was about being with my mom and seeing what happened. She was speaking during the first Breakaway Session of the day, so beforehand my mom and I stopped in the bookstore so I could buy my very own copy of The Desire Map to have signed by Danielle after her talk. Just being in the same room as Danielle was inspiring, to share in her energy for a blink in the eye of the Universe. Her voice was so soft and so strong, and I almost felt moved to tears during the first part of her panel because what she was saying was resonating so strongly with me. DSCN2323

We waited in line to get my book signed, during which my mom (of course) had to take a photo. I urged her not to while we were inching closer to Danielle, but in retrospect I am so glad that she did. (Thanks mom!) IMG_0278

After the signing my mom and I caught the tail end of a panel on how to silence your inner critic, wandered through the exhibition hall, ate lunch and chatted with the women at our table. We took part in different round tables for social media, blogging, and creating a pipeline for clients and customers.

My favorite part of the day, though? Spending it with my mom. We both walked away from the conference inspired (especially by Diana Nyad) and brimming with inspiration for different things. It's been less than a week since the conference and I'm nearly done devouring The Desire Map and am riding high on the absolute power of women supporting women.

In the weeks that it's been a little quiet around here, I've been working behind the scenes to create some amazing things for y'all! One of the things that I've been dying to share since it landed in my inbox is this amazing, amazing manifesto for Spikes and Stardust. It was designed by Amanda Fuller, and she did a knock-out job. These are things that I try to remember in my daily life, things that I try to live by. They also sum up what I want to do here at Spikes and Stardust -- to inspire, to serve, and to help you realize how much magic and potential is living inside of your soul.
