A couple weeks ago, Danielle invited me for dessert and knitting at Epicerie, a local French cafe and grocery in Northwest Austin. It was the perfect spot for catching up, munching on handmade pastries (she got a chocolate chip cookie and I had a lemon bar), and enjoying the cooler temperatures as the sun set.
Danielle was working on a cowl (which should be up on her blog soon, I believe!) and I started a scarf. Both of us start our new semesters of college this week, which was naturally the main topic of conversation. What classes we're taking, which ones we're excited for, which ones make us nervous, and how we can make sure to hang out a lot even when we're both in full school mode.
I also tried their iced coffee, which was good (although drinking it at eight in the evening was not a good idea) but a bit too strong for my tastes. When I drink coffee, I prefer to have a little bit with my sugar and cream -- a la the Beastie Boys. Epicerie is a wonderful place with a very cozy and inviting atmosphere to get dinner or dessert -- I'm currently trying to figure out when to take my parents there and get a cheese plate and wine for dinner -- and enjoy yourself. I plan on making a trip back to get some meats and cheeses at some point, and I have a feeling that it could turn into a regular spot for Danielle and I when we want to get away from the chaos of college.
